Playing at Hull City last Saturday, we managed to hold them to a 2-2 draw, a good result against another team fighting for its survival in the Premier League. But we had some regrets at the end of the game.
If you look at the table and at the other results of the week-end, it’s a good result for us. But we could be disappointed by our performance because we deserved way better than a draw.
Hull opened the score early and after that, they played physical. But we managed to bounce back and annoy our opponents, especially on set-pieces. Trailing 1-0 at half-time, we came back on the pitch with good intentions. At the 49th minute, I played a one-two with one of my partner and then I delivered a powerful cross from the right wing. The Hull defender completely missed the ball and lobed it over his own goal-keeper (1-1) !
Unfortunately, the referee awarded a generous penalty to the Tigers three minutes after our equalising goal. After a cross in the box, the ball bounced back, I tried to put a header and the Hull forward felt down but I didn’t push him ! Hull City took the lead back and it was very frustrating because they didn’t deserved it.
But once again, we showed some character and put the pressure on our hosts. And at the 67th minute, after a great piece of play on the right wing, our defender Matthew Jarvis netted the equaliser (2-2). We had some great opportunities till the end of the game, I even went up-front to bring something offensively but we were unlucky. It’s a pity but, once again, this away draw is a good result.
We have some very important games coming up in our survival bid, and let’s not forget about the FA Cup. So our main objective now is to recover before these games.
