We are going to play another decisive game on Saturday, at 3 pm. In order to keep our place in the top flight, we must defeat 18th-placed Burnley, a team with the same amount of points. And we have to be as motivated as we were against Manchester but with more efficiency.
This defeat against Manchester United was hard to swallow. It’s really difficult to say how I felt afterwards. I was literally disgusted because, once again, we weren’t rewarded for our effort.
We knew that we were facing a confident team, the Carling Cup champions, and they had nothing to lose against us. We almost had the perfect game in all the areas but we weren’t able to score a single goal. We were off to a good start, not letting them play the way they wanted to. We managed to get a great opportunity, but Stephan Ward’s header didn’t find the net. A symbol for our lack of efficiency…
With this goalless draw at halftime, we said to each other that there were something to do and that we had to keep on putting pressure on them. Unfortunately, they were more efficient than us and Paul Scholes opened the score with his 72nd minute cold blooded goal.
Despite this stroke of bad luck, we did our best to equalize, we had two great chances to score but we failed. Like against Chelsea, we at least deserved a draw. But these "Big Four" teams are way more efficient than us and it’s the main difference.
But we have to keep on playing that way, keep our mentality strong and eventually it will pay off. We are more than ever determined to fight for our place and to take points in Burnley on Saturday.
